Welcome to The Fishing Life, a program where we believe that for most of us, fishing is much more than a mere sport or pastime – it’s an addiction for which thankfully there is no cure. It is something that is deeply anchored into our very nature as humans, a throwback to our past history as hunters and gatherers that still resurfaces in the psyche of modern man and for most fishermen, largely defines who we are as individuals. For many of us fishing is much more than a sport, it is an art form, a way of understanding the world, a primal activity, a lifestyle, a means of both sustenance and commerce and our goal is to document the existential aspects of one of the world’s most ancient rituals, one of the rare human activities that transcends all lines of religion, age, wealth, geography, culture, race, and geography. The entire world fishes and The Fishing Life seeks to explore the nature of this universal human phenomenon.
The Fishing Life and this website are dedicated to the passionate people of the fishing world doing what they do best on a daily basis – fish! These pages will be a forum for anything related to fishing in any form– stories, photos, blogs, as well as raw video clips from many of our shoots.
As we believe that the journey is sometimes as important as the destination it is our mission at The Fishing Life to offer viewers the best and most interesting programming content the fishing world has to offer, be it fishing on a commercial boat for giant bluefin tuna or fishing char with the Inuit in Nunavik, as we take time to learn about both the local culture, people, and fishing tradition in each of our locations and discover why sometimes the best fishing trips have nothing at all to do with the fishing.
At this early stage in our development as an independent production, we are still uncertain as to eventual distribution and launch of content through traditional broadcast media or offering all programming exclusively online to a worldwide market, either for free or at a nominal premium that will allow us to both keep our lights on and our lines in the water. If you have any thoughts about this that you would like to share feel free to offer us any suggestions. Until then click on our partner links or at our guiding services as these are presently our only source of revenue.
In the spirit of universal fishing brotherhood, we welcome you with open arms as collaborators of our vision and hope you will join us in our adventure of discovery across wild landscapes in search of big fish, wild waters, beautiful landscapes, and the colourful characters that populate the world of fishing.
All marketing, sponsorship, and distribution inquiries can be made by e-mail at info@thefishinglife.com
